A 3-year letterwinner, Isaia arrived at MSU in 2018. He redshirted his first year on campus and went on to play in 24 career games for the Spartans over the past 3 seasons, primarily on special teams. Isaia was considered a redshirt junior in 2021. He can potentially play 2 more seasons, applying the NCAA waiver for the 2020 season, which does not count against players’ eligibility.
Isaia is the grandson of former Michigan State All-American and Hall of Famer Bob Apisa, a fullback who helped lead the Spartans to Big Ten and National Championships in 1965 and ’66. Isaia includes Apisa in his full name used on his Twitter profile.
