The Giants’ previous backup quarterback, Clayton Thorson, was injured during New York’s first preseason game over the weekend. Mike Glennon is also on the roster.

Daniel Jones is the starter for the Giants, but Lewerke could be asked to step in if he gets hurt. Jones missed two games last season.
Lewerke finished up a four-year run with Michigan State in 2019. He finished his Spartans’ career with 8,293 yards, 47 touchdowns and 32 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,255 yards and 10 more scores with Michigan State.
The Giants’ next preseason game is on Aug. 22 vs. the Cleveland Browns.
