A former Michigan State quarterback is hoping to find a new NFL landing spot.

On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers announced that quarterback Connor Cook had been cut in order to create space on the practice squad for linebacker Brandon Chubb. The team made space at the linebacker spot due to an injury to Jared Norris.

Cook was a fourth round draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Michigan State. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the No. 100 overall pick.

Cook spent his first two seasons in the league in Oakland but saw very little action. He played in one regular season game in 2016, completing 14-of-21 passes for 150 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He made his first career start in the Raiders’ playoff game that season but was underwhelming in his performance. He completed just 18-of-45 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. Cook threw three interceptions.

The former Michigan State star hasn’t seen the field since that game.

He was signed to the Panthers’ practice squad on Sept. 6, 2018.
