Former Michigan State star Denzel Valentine will play for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season.

Valentine officially signed with the Cavs on Wednesday afternoon.

This will be Valentine’s sixth year in the NBA and his first season with a team other than the Chicago Bulls. He was picked No. 16 overall by the Bulls in the 2014 NBA Draft after a successful career with the Spartans.

Valentine is averaging 7.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his NBA career. He’s appeared in 232 career games and has made 45 starts.

The terms of his deal with the Cavs were not disclosed. However, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported earlier this month that he would sign a two-year contract that was partially guaranteed.

Valentine joins an interesting team that has high-potential talent at guard (Collin Sexton and Darius Garland), on the wing (Isaac Okoro) and at center (Evan Mobley).

The 2021-22 NBA season begins in October.
