Kirk Cousins has played just five games for the Minnesota Vikings, but the former Michigan State quarterback is on pace to shatter the franchise’s passing records.

Through the first five games of the season, Cousins has completed 161 passes for 1,688 yards and 11 touchdowns. At that pace, the former Spartan would end the year with 515 completions, 5,402 yards and 35 touchdowns. He’s also on pace to throw 723 passes this season.

If Cousins were to hit those marks, he would become Minnesota’s leader in completions, attempts and yardage. He would need 39 touchdowns to tie the all-time mark, which was set by Daunte Culpepper in 2004.

Here’s a list of the current Vikings passing record holders:

  • Completions: Sam Bradford, 395 (2016)
  • Attempts: Warren Moon, 606 (1995)
  • Yardage: Culpepper, 4,717 (2004)
  • Touchdowns: Culpepper, 39 (2004)

Those would be some impressive records to break, especially in his first year with the organization.

Cousins did make it clear that he doesn’t really care about the statistics though, and is more concerned with the wins and losses.

“Stats can give you an indication of how a player’s playing, but it does not tell the whole story,” Cousins told the Pioneer Press. “My focus is on what do we need to do each week to win.”

Minnesota is currently 2-2-1 on the season. The Vikings will play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
