Michigan State didn’t have any former stars selected in the NBA Draft this past week, but three former Spartans have signed undrafted free agent deals.

Sharpshooter Matt McQuaid reportedly agreed to a deal with the Detroit Pistons a day after the NBA Draft. According to reports from Michael Scotto and Chris Solari, Kenny Goins and Nick Ward have signed similar deals.

Goins will play with the Denver Nuggets through Summer League, while Ward will join the Atlanta Hawks. Both players will have the opportunity to prove they deserve a roster spot at the NBA level.

Summer League gets underway in July.

Ward appeared in 34 games last season, averaging 12.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest. He shot 58 percent from the floor and was better than 65 percent from the free throw line. He did battle a hand injury late last season, which kept him benched for a few games near the end of the year.

Goins averaged 7.9 points and 8.9 rebounds last season, as well as 2.3 assists. The 2018-19 season was his best year statistically in every category.

Michigan State finished the 2018-19 season as B1G regular season and tournament champions. It also reached the Final Four at season’s end.
