Jacoby Windmon, Michigan State LB, captures another national honor following Spartan debut
Jacoby Windmon was honored as the Reese’s Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Michigan’s win over Western Michigan.
The Michigan State linebacker had a stellar game and was a major reason why Western Michigan was held to 13 points. This was a great honor for a player who will be a factor in Michigan State’s defense for the entire season.

Windmon had a great outing on Friday with 7 total tackles, 3 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, and 1 forced fumble. He disrupted Western Michigan’s plan and his tackles for losses resulted in 17 lost yards for the Broncos.
Windmon, a senior linebacker, will receive more attention from the rest of the nation with his honor from Reese’s. This is Windmon’s 1st season at Michigan State, as he transferred to Michigan State from UNLV after the 2021 season.
At UNLV, Windmon played 3 seasons for the Rebels from 2019 to 2021. He had 119 total tackles in 2021, which led UNLV’s defense. He was one of the best linebackers in the Mountain West and his play style translated nicely into Michigan State.
With his great Michigan State debut, Windmon will be looked at as one of the leaders of the defense. Michigan State will welcome Akron into East Lansing on Saturday, Sept. 10.
