Jacoby Windmon, Michigan State LB, reportedly decides on future with Spartans
Jacoby Windmon is reportedly moving on from Michigan State after 2 seasons with the Spartans. According to reports, Windmon is headed back to the transfer portal for his final season of eligibility.
Windmon joined the Spartans in 2022 after 3 seasons at UNLV. Last season, Windmon started the first 8 games of the 2022 season, with 6 starts at defensive end and 2 at linebacker. He played a total of 455 snaps on defense and appeared on 65 special teams plays.
In 2022, Windmon led the FBS with 6 forced fumbles, which ranked tied for second most in an MSU season. He was MSU’s leader in tackles for loss (10.5 for 46 yards) and sacks (5.5 for 31 yards). Windmon became the first Spartan and just the 6th player in conference history to earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week accolades three times in one season (Week 1 vs. Western Michigan; Week 2 vs. Akron; Week 7 vs. Wisconsin).
Windmon can play a 6th season because he used a redshirt in 2023. He had 15 tackles with 2 TFL including 1 sack in 3 September games. On the Week 5 injury report, however, Windmon was listed as out for the year.
A New Orleans native out of John Ehret High School, Windmon began his career at UNLV in 2019. Windmon recorded 169 tackles in 3 seasons at UNLV (2019-21), posting 18.5 TFLs (100 yards), 12.0 sacks (85 yards), 4 pass break-ups and 3 forced fumbles in 30 games for the Rebels.
Michigan State defensive lineman Jacoby Windmon is in the transfer portal. He had 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in the 2022 season.
