Joe Bachie has done a little bit of everything for Michigan State this season. So much, in fact, that he’s on James Franklin’s radar.

During his weekly press conference, Franklin previewed Penn State’s matchup against Michigan State, speaking highly of the Spartan linebacker. Franklin put Bachie in a category by himself.

“[Bachie] may be the best linebacker in the league that we’ve seen,” Franklin said.

In five games this season, Bachie has recorded 39 tackles, 2.5 for loss and a sack. He also recorded a game-winning interception in Michigan State’s season opener against Utah State.

Bachie also had a big day in last year’s matchup against Penn State. The linebacker recorded six total stops and an interception as the Spartans knocked off the Nittany Lions 27-24 in East Lansing.

Michigan State’s defense has been it’s strongest unit this season, but still has some gaping holes, particularly in the secondary. But Bachie will present a problem for Penn State’s offense, particularly in the run game.

Saturday’s game between the Spartans and Nittany Lions is a must-win matchup for both teams, as each already has a loss in conference play this season.

Kickoff is scheduled for is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET in Happy Valley.
