Kevin Jarvis had half the B1G pursuing him.

He had offers from Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Rutgers, as well as SEC schools like Arkansas, Auburn Florida, Missouri and Tennessee.

But ultimately, he went green.

The 2017 four-star offensive guard announced his commitment to Michigan State on Thursday:

The Chicago suburbs native is rated the No. 10 guard and is the No. 5 player in the state of Illinois in the 2017 class. His commitment came two days after he took an unofficial visit to East Lansing.

The 6-5, 330-pound lineman is the Spartans’ third — and highest rated — 2017 recruit.

Jarvis’ commitment continues Mark Dantonio’s recruiting dominance in Illinois. His 2016 class featured five players from the Land of Lincoln, including the state’s two top-rated players in Josh King and Naquan Jones. Dantonio landed four of the top 10 players in Illinois in 2016.

It’s early, but he’s off to a nice start in 2017.
