Recruitment season is in full swing as we hit the July 4 holiday weekend, and players are constantly evaluating their options for the next level. On Friday, Michigan State lost a commitment from the 2023 recruiting class.

The player is Jaylon Braxton, a 4-star cornerback out of Frisco, Texas. Braxton originally committed to the Spartans on June 14.

Rated the No. 27 CB nationally by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Braxton revealed his news via social media. He also set July 9 – his mother’s birthday – as his new commitment date.

Since his original commitment to the Spartans, Braxton has taken visits to Arkansas, Miami (FL) and California. It will be interesting to see if any of those programs have leapfrogged the Spartans.

The loss of Braxton hurts, but the Spartans are still putting together a solid class for 2023. As things currently stand, Michigan State still holds pledges from 4-star CB Chance Rucker out of Denton, Texas and 3-star CB Eddie Pleasant III out of Tampa, Florida.
