Josh Butler’s Senior Day recognition had a bit of a twist on it!

The fifth-year senior defensive back has 52 tackles for his career, including 25 this season, and played in his final game in East Lansing Saturday. As is tradition, the Spartans honored each senior prior to kickoff.

For most players, they celebrate Senior Day with family, particularly their parents. Unfortunately, Luke Zimmerman indicated that both of Butler’s parents passed away during his time at Michigan State.

Since he did not have his parents to be on hand for his Senior Day walkout, the Spartans allowed Butler to run out with two people that mean a lot to him. His dogs, Roxy and Remi:

Butler even has a Twitter account dedicated to the pups and shared a “senior night” video of the trio after the game:

That definitely gives a new meaning to “Spartan Dawgs” and is a really cool moment for Butler.
