Playing in just his fifth game this season, Michigan State defensive back Josiah Scott was named the RedBox Bowl Defensive Player of the Game.
Scott broke up several passes and made some key tackles in Monday’s game against Oregon. Unfortunately, his efforts weren’t enough to get a win for the Spartans, who fell 7-6 to the Ducks.

The Redbox Bowl was Scott’s fifth game of the season, meaning he burned his opportunity to maintain his redshirt. He missed the other eight games due to injury.
Scott recorded 10 tackles, two interceptions and three pass break-ups in 4 regular season games this fall.
Because Scott burned his redshirt, he will be a junior for the 2019 season.
