Justin Layne a second-round pick, other Michigan State players third-day selections, Mel Kiper Jr. says
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. sees former Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne as a second round selection, while three other Spartans are expected to be picked on the third day of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Kiper spoke with reporters about his latest draft projections on Tuesday, offering plenty of insight on several stars. When asked about Layne, Kiper said that the cornerback is a “solid” pick for the second round. He doesn’t see the Spartan falling any further than the third round.

Also in this year’s draft are running back L.J. Scott, wide receiver Felton Davis III and defensive back Khari Willis.
The outlook for the other three Spartans wasn’t quite as bright as Layne, but there’s a good chance that all three get selected. Kiper said workouts will play a big role in determining where Scott, Davis and Willis are picked. It could be as high as the fourth round or as low as the seventh.
Kiper says Khari Willis, Felton Davis and LJ Scott are are in the mix for the third day of the draft and it depends on workouts to distinguish between 4th and 7th round.
