ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. sees former Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne as a second round selection, while three other Spartans are expected to be picked on the third day of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Kiper spoke with reporters about his latest draft projections on Tuesday, offering plenty of insight on several stars. When asked about Layne, Kiper said that the cornerback is a “solid” pick for the second round. He doesn’t see the Spartan falling any further than the third round.

Also in this year’s draft are running back L.J. Scott, wide receiver Felton Davis III and defensive back Khari Willis.

The outlook for the other three Spartans wasn’t quite as bright as Layne, but there’s a good chance that all three get selected. Kiper said workouts will play a big role in determining where Scott, Davis and Willis are picked. It could be as high as the fourth round or as low as the seventh.

The 2019 NFL Draft will start on Thursday, April 25 and conclude on Saturday, April 27.
