Michigan State is in the driver’s seat for a spot in the College Football Playoff and a key factor is an excellent season from transfer running back Kenneth Walker III.

Walker III has emerged as a legitimate Heisman candidate for Michigan State, who is 8-0 and in first place in the B1G East.

Michigan State dropped a highlight video showcasing Walker III’s candidacy:

Walker III has amassed 1,194 yards and 14 touchdowns, with 6.8 yards per carry. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Walker III was previously at Wake Forest, where he totaled 1,158 yards and 17 touchdowns in his two seasons.

Michigan State is ranked No. 3 in the first edition of the CFP rankings. Michigan State will look to remain undefeated when the Spartans travel to face B1G West opponent Purdue on Nov. 6.

Purdue defeated then-No. 2 Iowa on Oct. 17. Michigan State leads the all-time series 36-28-3 and is on an eight-game winning streak vs. Purdue.
