Kirk Cousins is gearing up for another season after an impressive 2022 campaign for the Minnesota Vikings. That season also included taking part in Netflix’s “Quarterback” documentary with behind-the-scenes looks into Cousins’ life in the NFL.
Earlier this offseason, Vikings teammate Justin Jefferson was also asked to list his top-5 QBs in the NFL today. Jefferson notably omitted Cousins, a point Cousins was asked about once again on “The Dan Patrick Show.”
“I’m sure he’s just shooting from the hip. I know that’d I’d love to — I have a year together with him — where next year, when he lists off the top 5, my name comes to the top of his mind right away,” Cousins explained.
“I think it’s a little bit where — and this is something I’d say it’d be debatable. I look at it and I go there’s a little bit like (Pat) Mahomes at the top, there’s like a lot of other guys down to like much deeper than 5 if you will, then there’s kind of another deal where you’ve got guys that are developing and working their way through it.”
Cousins went on to say a lot of being a top-5 QB is related to winning games and deep playoff runs. As Cousins continued to outline his criteria, Patrick pushed back a bit and said “I think you’re stalling from giving me an answer there.”
“I don’t think it’s very helpful for me in any way to give you a direct answer there,” Cousins said with a chuckle. “I’ve been around the block enough to know it doesn’t help me much.”
“Veteran maneuver,” Patrick admitted. “If Netflix asks you, are you going to answer their question?”
“Well, Dan, I have the right to edit all the content,” Cousins said with another laugh.
