After an impressive road win in inclement weather on Saturday, Kirk Herbstreit wanted to give some major credit to Penn State for its 8-0 start. But in the process of doing that, he threw some major shade at Michigan State.

Penn State registered a 28-7 win over Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday afternoon in a torrential downpour at Spartan Stadium. It’s the kind of game that could’ve been incredibly close because of the weather, but the Nittany Lions had little trouble with the Spartans.

Following the game, Herbstreit fired off a tweet complimenting James Franklin and company for a nice win away from Happy Valley. He also had a slight for Michigan State.

“REALLY impressive performance today by [Penn State]. Not that beating MSU is big but on the road after an emotional week last week – boys showed up to play today to their credit,” Herbstreit wrote. “More of an emotional/maturity test than X/O’s.”

Clearly, Herbstreit doesn’t like what he’s seeing out of East Lansing right now. There aren’t a lot of Spartans fans who like it, either.

Penn State defeated Michigan 28-21 at Beaver Stadium last week before traveling to Michigan State. Now, the Nittany Lions will have a week off before taking on Minnesota (also 8-0) in Minneapolis on Nov. 9.

Michigan State is now 4-4 on the year with three straight losses to Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State.
