Michigan State lost its first game of 2018 at Arizona State on Saturday night, 16-13 on a field goal as time expired.

The game did not kick off until 9:45pm EST, but it appears fans are still happy that college football is back, and stayed up to watch the Pac-12 after dark game.

According to Matt Wenzel of mlive, the game between the Spartans and Sun Devils was ESPN’s “highest-rated Saturday finale window since 2016.”

Arizona State, coached by Herm Edwards, was led by quarterback Manny Wilkins, who was 30 for 48 with 380 yards and 1 touchdown and an interception. Arizona State wide receiver continues to garner national attention with his performance of 7 catches and 104 yards. Arizona State won on a 28-yard field goal by Brandon Ruiz as time expired.

Michigan State was only able to muster 63 yards on the ground, but quarterback Brian Lewerke was 27 for 29 with 314 yards, 1 touchdown, and an interception.

Next week, Michigan State will be off with a bye.
