Mark Dantonio has never really lost his optimism regarding the 2018 season. Despite Michigan State finishing 7-5 when it was expected to content in the B1G East, Dantonio has always looked at the positives.

Heading into the Redbox Bowl against Oregon, Dantonio said that a win in the postseason would be enough to qualify the season as a pretty good year. The Spartans head coach is hoping his team can put everything together one last time in California.

An hour before kickoff, Dantonio spoke with the Michigan State radio crew to preview the matchup against Oregon and talk about the team’s trip to the Bay Area. It’s been a memorable trip for the players and coaches, but Dantonio says it’s time to get to business.

“All in all, it’s been a good trip,” Dantonio said. “Now we gotta finish.”

If the Spartans post a win over the Ducks, it’ll be the eighth time in Dantonio’s 12 years that the team has reached eight wins for the season. Michigan State and Oregon are also tied at 3-3 in their all-time series, so the winner gets that advantage.

Kickoff between Michigan State and Oregon is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
