Remember in elementary school when you would get to your class the first day and you would have to make one of those name tags to stick on your desk?

The point was that everybody in the room — including the teacher of course — could get to learn your name. Well, why does every member of the Michigan State football program do it during fall camp?

Mark Dantonio explained why:

The 2018 season is different from 2017. It’s a fresh, new start that gives each and every athlete a chance to prove what they can do. That’s how Michigan State sees it, and to be honest, it’s true.

New superstar players breakout in every sport each season and the Spartans want to honor the new beginning. Luckily for Dantonio’s bunch, the team returns just about every starter imaginable from last season’s 10-3 squad.

Michigan State’s 2018 season starts with a matchup against Utah State at 7 p.m. on Friday at home. The game will be televised on BTN.
