Mark Dantonio provides updates to Michigan State LB Joe Bachie's appeal process
Football can provide unique adversity sometimes. That’s true for Michigan State and Spartans linebacker Joe Bachie, who was ruled ineligible last week for a failed drug test.
On Tuesday, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said Bachie remains with the program as a “student coach” but cannot practice. He is currently appealing his ineligibility, but Dantonio admitted he has never gone through this process before, so he doesn’t know how long the appeal may take.
Dantonio says Joe Bachie remains a part of the team as a student coach but cannot participate or practice with appeal ongoing.

Dantonio has no experience with Big Ten PED appeal process and does not know a timeline for it.

Bachie reportedly tested positive for a supplement that is considered a performance-enhancing substance and is banned by the B1G. He will remain ineligible for the rest of the season unless the conference grants him an appeal.
This season, Bachie has 71 tackles, including 8.5 for loss, four pass breakups and an interception.
