Mark Dantonio responds to Urban Meyer's comments about MSU recruiting, developing
Nearly a week-and-a-half ago, Urban Meyer said on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff show that Michigan State’s decline has been a result of recruiting and not developing talent.
On Tuesday, during his weekly press conference, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio responded to Meyer’s comments:
Dantonio asked about Urban Meyer's comments about MSU recruiting. Says MSU has done a good job developing players, citing Darqueze Dennard, Trae Waynes, Jack Conklin as lightly-recruited players who became stars.

Did Dantonio need to go through a list of players? Not really. But, at the same time, he was asked about Meyer’s comments. He answered the question.

Dantonio has, as he noted, developed players well. The Spartans don’t typically get 5-star players or high-end 4-star players. Occasionally? Sure. Regularly? No.
That’s not different. But, the offense’s inability to perform weekly and the defense not being as scary as it was even a year ago, has led to a struggling season.
The Spartans take on Maryland at home on Saturday.
