Mark Dantonio updates injury status of WR Cody White
This is not the kind of news Spartans fans wanted to see after the win over Central Michigan.
Michigan State is already dealing with injuries on the offensive side of the ball as RB L.J. Scott and WR Darrell Stewart Jr. missed the game against the Chippewas. The Spartans were able to build a big lead that carried them to a 31-20 win Saturday, but WR Cody White was injured in the contest.
The injury occurred when White dove for a pass in the end zone. He was unable to come up with the catch and landed awkwardly on his left elbow and hand.
Unfortunately, head coach Mark Dantonio announced after the game that White broke his hand on the play and will be out for an extended period of time. It is unknown when exactly White may be able to return, but his absence will be another blow to the Spartans’ offense.
Reporter Ryan Schuiling shared Dantonio’s comments:
If it is a broken metacarpal bone (most common type), typical timeframe is about a month out of action. Likely means 4 games, conservatively. Status for Michigan game would presumably be in considerable doubt.

White entered the CMU game as the team leader in receptions (18) and receiving yards (260) through the first three games this season.
