Michigan State snapped it’s losing streak Saturday with a win over Rutgers. Unfortunately, the Spartans also realized some bad news after the game.

Following the win, Mark Dantonio took to the podium with his post-game press conference. During his press conference, Dantonio was asked about Tyriq Thompson playing in the linebacker spot traditionally occupied by Joe Bachie.

It was recently revealed that Bachie was suspended after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. Bachie was appealing the suspension.

Unfortunately, Dantonio indicated that Bachie’s appeal has been denied and his suspension is upheld. That means Bachie’s career at Michigan State is officially over.

Chris Solari with the Detroit Free Press shared Dantonio’s comments:

Bachie finishes his career with 285 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. He also had five interceptions. Bachie recorded back-to-back 100-tackle seasons in 2017-18 and appeared headed towards another with 72 tackles prior to his suspension. Now, the Spartan defense will continue to adjust to life without one of its veteran leaders.
