By the time Friday night’s game between Wisconsin and Michigan State concludes, there may be a new all-time assist leader in the Spartans’ record book.

Michigan State guard Cassius Winston enters Friday night’s game against Wisconsin needing four assists to pass Mateen Cleaves to become the program’s all-time assist leader. Cleaves currently holds the record at 816 and Winston sits with 813 assists.

Earlier this season, Winston became the first player in B1G history to score more than 1,600 points and dish out over 800 assists in a career.

According to Kyle Austin of MLive.com, Cleaves plans to be in attendance at the Breslin Center for the potential record-breaking night for Winston.

This season, Winston is averaging 18.8 points, 6.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds while converting shots at a 43.2 percent clip. His efforts have Michigan State sitting with a 13-4 record overall and a B1G-best 5-1 record in B1G play.

Friday night’s game in East Lansing is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The game will air on FS1.
