Mel Tucker channels 'peanut butter and jelly' analogy to describe Michigan State's recent approach
Mel Tucker’s Michigan State squad pulled off a huge win against Wisconsin, ending their 4-game losing streak.
After the game, Tucker compared his team’s approach to “making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.” Tucker stated that this meant “keeping it simple” and “slowing it down.”
Tucker: “We’re just making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches – keeping it simple, slowing it down, taking it one play at a time, one day at a time.”

Whatever it is, it seemed to work in Week 7 against Wisconsin.
Tucker also stressed that he believes his team has the right players, they just “need better execution,” referring to the recent 4-game losing streak.
Tucker: “It’s not like we don’t have any players. We just need better execution.”

The Spartans certainly executed against Wisconsin, obtaining their 1st conference win of the season. Tucker will need his team to keep executing if they hope to upset Michigan in Week 9.
