Mel Tucker and his Michigan State Spartans got a big upset 23-15 win over No. 16 Illinois in Week 10 without the eight players suspended after the postgame brawl in Week 9 at Michigan.
Those eight players found themselves trending after a video post on social media showed the players in a huge fight following Michigan State’s 29-7 road loss in Week 9. The brawl and the ensuing punishment passed by Tucker were the team’s leading story of the week.
After the win over Illinois, Tucker admitted it’s a challenging process for the team as the Spartans await the conclusion of the investigation. It’s another reason for Tucker to emphasize the importance of taking things one day at a time.
Tucker says going into next week with eight players suspended indefinitely and in limbo with potential punishment, he says MSU "literally has to take it one day at a time."

Tucker also continues to point out his daily message to the team is “block out the noise” while controlling what’s in front of each player to try and get better.
Tucker: "We tell the guys every single day to block out the noise, focus on what you can control and listen to us. It's easier said than done."
