Mel Tucker looks ahead to MSU's Washington trip, challenges of preparing for west coast kickoff
Mel Tucker has just gotten his No. 14 Michigan State Spartans to the second win of the 2022 season and he is already focused on a big game three. Next Saturday, Michigan State will be experiencing one of the biggest tests so far this 2022 season as the Spartans will have to travel to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies.
Coach Tucker acknowledges the obstacles of traveling and playing from the eastern side of the U.S. to the west coast. He has already stated in his postgame press conference after Michigan State’s 52-0 win over Akron that he has already talked with experts and other coaches about this challenge.
Tucker said his staff has "talked to some experts" on going to play at Washington and on the West Coast. "We'll have some things we'll do differently in our process to put us in the best situation to perform. … It's significant travel. We're all over it."

The last time Michigan State played on the west coast was in the 2018 season when the Spartans faced Oregon in the RedBox Bowl in Santa Clara, California. They lost that game 7-6.
