Mel Tucker got what he was hoping for out of Michigan State fans on Saturday night.

The Spartans’ coach spent most of the week pleading with fans to show up in large numbers and bring energy for a big game against Nebraska. The fans delivered, and so did the Spartans.

Michigan State took home a 23-20 overtime victory on Saturday night, and Tucker was sure to give thanks to the fans who showed up to “The Woodshed.”

Here’s a couple comments from Tucker from after the game:

Michigan State is now 4-0 and off to its best start since 2015. The Spartans have a great chance to become bowl eligible over the next two weeks, as they host Western Kentucky in Week 5 and then face Rutgers on the road in week 6.

Michigan State hasn’t won more than 7 games in a season since 2017 when Mark Dantonio led the Spartans to a 10-3 record.

Kick off with the Hilltoppers next week is at 7:30 p.m. ET.
