Michigan State coach Mel Tucker offered insight into the availability of a couple of his wide receivers heading into the Sept. 3 season opener vs. Northwestern.

Tucker announced that wide receiver Jayden Reed is cleared to return after offseason OWI. However, there was not much of an update on fellow receiver Ricky White, who is listed on the fall roster but has not been seen at camp.

Reed was named to Paul Hornung Award going into this season. The award is for the nation’s most versatile player. In addition to wide receiver, Reed also serves as a kickoff returner. While at Western Michigan, Reed earned Freshman All-American honors.

White flashed his potential last season with a 10-reception, 223-yard, one-touchdown performance vs. Michigan.

Michigan State posted a 2-5 record during Tucker’s first season at the helm.
