Earlier on Wednesday, Michigan State made it official by hiring Alan Haller to be their next Athletic Director. He signed a deal that runs through 2026 and is replacing Bill Beekman, who is now the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives.

After the announcement came out, both head basketball coach Tom Izzo and head football coach Mel Tucker released statements on the hiring. They both seem quite excited about the future of sports at MSU, especially Tucker.

Part of Tucker’s statement reads, “Alan Haller has been associated with MSU for nearly 35 years. He is a Spartan for life and has rightfully earned a great deal of respect and credibility for his peers. He understands what it takes to be successful at this level and that’s exactly what is needed in this role.”

Izzo’s statement was pretty similar to Tucker’s as he’s also ecstatic about Haller being named AD.

Before being named the AD, Haller was the school’s “deputy director” as he was Beekman’s, right-hand man. He also played for the football program from 1988-91.
