A hospital in Michigan will no longer be using Kirk Cousins as its spokesperson after recent comments regarding the COVID-19 comments. A statement was released on Friday.
Holland Hospital announced it is cutting ties with the former Michigan State and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback because of his stance on the vaccine. Cousins was featured in short, promotional videos for the facility, per MLive.com.
The statement from Holland Hospital said it “acknowledges that each person is entitled to their own viewpoints, those who speak on our behalf must support messages that align with the hospital’s position on matters of vital importance to individual and community health. For this reason, Holland Hospital will discontinue using Kirk Cousins as our spokesperson for now.”
Cousins recently said that he was “at peace” with his decision to not get vaccinated before the NFL season.
Cousins is entering his 10th season in the NFL and his fourth with the Minnesota Vikings. He had a close relationship with the hospital after attending Holland Christian High School and later playing at Michigan State.
Over the course of his career in the NFL, Cousins has thrown for over 28,000 yards and has 190 touchdown passes to his name. His passer rating is a 97.9.
