Michigan State needed a little time to get rolling on the recruiting trail, but now Mel Tucker has been able to land some solid commitments over the past week. On Saturday, the Spartans landed a heavily-recruited safety out of Miami.

Three-star defensive back Gabe Nealy gave his verbal commitment to Michigan State on Saturday, becoming the third play in the 2021 recruiting class to pledge to the Spartans. He made his announcement via Twitter.

“I am 120% committed to Michigan State University,” Nealy wrote on Twitter.

Nealy, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound safety from Miami, is listed as the No. 67 player at his position during this recruiting cycle. He’s also one of the top 150 players from the state of Florida.

During the recruiting process, Nealy has received 19 offers. In addition to Michigan State, he also received offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pitt, Rutgers and UCF, among others.

Michigan State now has three players committed in the 2021 class, all of which have committed in the last week. Nealy is the first out-of-state prospect to verbally pledge to the Spartans.
