Michigan State is adding Louisiana to its future schedule, it announced on Thursday morning.

The Spartans will face off against the Ragin’ Cajuns in September of 20224.

According to Winsipedia, these teams have never met before on the gridiron.

This wraps up Michigan State’s nonconference slate for 2024. The Spartans are also set to face Florida Atlantic and Boston College that season. Michigan State’s nonconference schedule is now full all the way through 2025.

As far as Group of 5 opponents go, Louisiana is one of the best in the nation. Billy Napier has led the Ragin’ Cajuns to back-to-back 10+ win seasons. Louisiana also routinely won nine games with their previous coach, Mark Hudspeth.

In the past two seasons, Louisiana has defeated Iowa State and Liberty, while narrowly losing to Mississippi State.

In addition to adding Louisiana, Michigan State also officially re-scheduled two nonconferences games from 2020. The Spartans will play Toledo on Sept. 5, 2026 and will travel to BYU on Sept. 11, 2032. The Big Ten didn’t play nonconference games in 2020 due to the pandemic.
