Four Michigan State football players will have the honor of being a team captain this season.
On Thursday, the Spartans announced that four stars will be captains for the 2019 campaign. Three are defensive players and just one comes on the offensive side of the football.
The four captains are defensive linemen Raequan Williams and Kenny Willekes, linebacker Joe Bachie and quarterback Brian Lewerke.

Williams and Willekes will anchor one of the best defensive line units in all of college football this season. Bachie is considered to be one of the top linebackers in the B1G and Lewerke is a third-year starting quarterback.

There are high expectations for Michigan State to bounce back after a 7-6 campaign in 2018 and be a contender in the B1G East again.
The Spartans open the season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Tulsa at Spartan Stadium.
