Michigan State went 15-13 and lost in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament last season. Michigan State is currently not ranked in the AP Top 25. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo is annoyed but taking a measured approach to the lack of preseason praise.
Under Izzo, Michigan State has transformed into a blue blood, reaching the NCAA Tournament every season since 1997-98, with 10 trips to the Final Four, and a national title in 1999-2000.
