Michigan State is gearing up for the program’s first spring session under new head coach Jonathan Smith. On Wednesday, the Spartans also announced the details for the annual spring game.

Fans can get a first-hand look at Smith’s program and a number of new faces at this year’s “Spring Showcase” on Saturday, April 20. The event will be held at Spartan Stadium, but the time of the event was not yet released.

The showcase will be a good chance for Spartan fans to see Smith’s new additions to the roster and coaching staff. Those pieces include former Oregon State quarterback Aidan Chiles and tight end Jack Velling, ex-Beavers expected to play key roles in East Lansing.

Entering the 2024 season, Smith faces the prospect of turning around a program that went 9-16 across the past two seasons. The season will also bring the additional challenges of competing among the 18-team B1G with a shot at the expanded College Football Playoff.

While the turnaround might take some time, Smith appears poised as the man to rebuild MSU after the disastrous end to Mel Tucker’s time in East Lansing.
