One Michigan State athlete and a former quarterback prospect for the Spartans has reportedly entered the transfer portal as of Tuesday morning.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Hamp Fay has joined the wave of players heading for the transfer portal in the spring window since opening Monday. Fay was a member of the 2021 recruiting class but did not see game action last season after redshirting as a true freshman in 2021.
More than 110 FBS football players jumped in the portal on the first weekday the portal was open on Monday. Today’s portal begins with Michigan State quarterback Hampton Fay entering.

Fay spent his time in East Lansing transitioning to tight end after joining the Spartans as a 6-foot-5 QB out of high school. He also spent time at safety for Michigan State.
Fay has the distinction of being one of the first QBs recruited to East Lansing during Mel Tucker’s time with the program. Noah Kim joined MSU during Tucker’s first recruiting class in 2020, but Kim was originally recruited to the program by Brad Salem on Mark Dantonio’s 2019 coaching staff.
