Michigan State football made some changes to its student section with the season opener on the horizon. The team knows how important the support from the student body can be.
Those around Michigan State football know that there is a name given to the student section in East Lansing. Nicknamed “The Deep End” last season, the student section will now have some cosmetic upgrades for 2022.
A sign reading “You Are Now Entering The Deep End” has been added just before entering the student section. There are now also meter markers on the steps of stadium to make the area seem like it’s underwater. Mel Tucker’s quote from last year about the student section has also been put up around the stadium.
The Spartans are going to need all the help they can get if they want to build on what they did last season. Michigan State had an 11-2 finish to 2021, and was very close to competing for a conference title.
Their 2022 season opens with Western Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Coach Tucker said it best: “We want to drag them into the deep water, where we live.”
