Mark Dantonio planted the Spartan flag right in the center of Ohio this weekend.

This weekend alone, Michigan State landed commitments from three prospects out of the Buckeye State, all of which came on Sunday. Three-star defensive end Chris Mayfield (Hilliard) and three-star cornerback Angelo Grose (Mansfield) were the first two to pledge to the Spartans. The latest commitment came from three-star linebacker Devin Hightower.

Hightower made his decision late Sunday night, posting a message on Twitter to make his announcement. The Akron native posted several pictures in a Michigan State uniform, as well as the word “Committed.”

The three-star linebacker is ranked as the No. 25 player out of Ohio and is the No. 53 outside linebacker of the 2020 class. His pledge gives the Spartans 11 commitments this cycle.

Hightower had several offers, including four other B1G schools. He chose Michigan State over Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, Rutgers, Pitt and Cincinnati.

With Hightower’s commitment, Michigan State’s 2020 class now ranks ninth in the B1G and 40th nationally. The Spartans now have four players from the state of Ohio committed in the cycle.
