Michigan State beats out Oregon, Colorado, others for 2024 defensive lineman
Michigan State has landed a commitment from Chicago (Ill.) Simeon defensive lineman Mikeshun Beeler.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defender plans to sign with the Spartans on Wednesday. He chose MSU from a group of finalists that also included Oregon, Colorado, Indiana, and Georgia Tech. He announced his commitment live on the 247Sports YouTube page, and explained his decision shortly after.

Beeler is a 3-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 25 prospect from the state of Illinois and the No. 115 defensive lineman in the class.
As a senior, Beeler produced 14 tackles for loss and nine sacks, according to MaxPreps. The year prior, he had 77 total tackles, 21 TFLs, and eight sacks. He also forced three fumbles over his final two years of high school ball. He was a three-time All-City selection and an All-State pick as a senior.
For the Spartans, Beeler’s pledge pushes the 2024 class up to 22 known commitments. Eighteen of those recruits signed during the Early Signing Period back in December. The class — a transitional group in Jonathan Smith’s first go-around with the Spartans — ranks 42nd in the 247 Composite.
