Mel Tucker is aiming to turn Michigan State into a consistent contender in the B1G. He continues to put in the work on the recruiting trail toward that aim, landing another 4-star prospect on Tuesday.

This time, the commitment comes from Jaylon Braxton, a 4-star CB out of Frisco, Texas. Braxton committed to the Spartans over a host of other Power 5 offers, including Baylor, Arkansas, California and LSU, among others.

Braxton is listed at 6-feet and 170 lbs. and took his official visit to East Lansing on June 3. Now, he has pledged to the Spartans as the 7th 4-star commitment in Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Braxton is the No. 44 player out of Texas for the cycle. He’s also the No. 27 CB nationally and is a top-300 player for 2023.

Michigan State is now up to 10 total commitments for the class of 2023 and is up to No. 15 nationally in the team rankings.
