Michigan State football tweeted a graphic ahead of next week’s rivalry game against Michigan. Then it was deleted.

On Monday afternoon, MSU football deleted a tweet with a graphic that had the Michigan “M” placed upside down to look like a “W.” The reasoning for the switch is a bit confusing, but regardless of the reasoning, it backfired horrifically.

It didn’t take long for the memes to ensue.

After a short-lived post and then getting heat for “giving Michigan the W” remains probably why it got deleted.

So, who knows, maybe this game will be rich in competition. But a rivalry like this one will surely add some flavor to both sides of the ball.

This game is always a big rivalry between these two teams. It’s no surprise that MSU tried to do something funny, but it backfired pretty quickly.

Nonetheless, Michigan State will head to the Big House on Oct. 29 under the lights in a primetime slated game against its in-state rivalry, Michigan at 7:30 p.m. ET.
