Michigan State football player stepping away to focus on baseball career
Michigan State will have one less member of the tight end room this season.
According to a team spokesperson, TE Adam Berghorst is stepping away from the football team. Berghorst is also a member of the Spartan baseball team and will focus his efforts on the baseball diamond.
Chris Solari with the Detroit Free Press shared the announcement.

Berghorst mainly appeared on special teams for Mel Tucker’s program and played in 6 games during the 2021 season. He was a 3-star prospect out of Zeeland, Michigan for the 2019 recruiting class.
Coming out of high school, Berghorst was a 14th-round selection of the Texas Rangers in the MLB Draft. He will look to hone his baseball skills on the pitching mound for the 2023 MLB Draft.
