Michigan State’s 2020 recruiting class grew over the weekend.

On Sunday, the Spartans received a verbal pledge from three-star defensive back Cole DeMarzo, a native of Hilton Head, South Carolina. He’s the 13th player to join Michigan State’s 2020 class.

DeMarzo made his announcement on Sunday via Twitter.

“Thank you to Coach Dantonio, Coach Tressel, and the whole MSU staff for believing in me and giving me this great opportunity,” DeMarzo wrote. “With that being said I am excited to announce that I have COMMITTED TO MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY.”

DeMarzo had over a dozen offers, though Michigan State was the only Power Five offer. He received interest from Air Force, Appalachian State, Army, Cincinnati and several others.

At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, DeMarzo could easily shift to linebacker at the college level.

Michigan State is now up to 52nd in the national recruiting rankings and sits at No. 11 in the B1G. DeMarzo is the only South Carolina prospect to commit to the Spartans.
