Michigan State golfer James Piot wins Georgia Cup in tune-up to The Masters
Michigan State golfer James Piot is getting set for a string of PGA tournaments this year, and he added another win to his belt over the weekend.
On Sunday, Piot – winner of last year’s US Amateur – took part in the Georgia Cup. The event pits the winners of the US Amateur Open and the British Amateur Open. Piot’s opponent was Laird Shephard.

The match play event was neck-and-neck all the way to the 18th hole. In the end, Piot pulled off a beautiful lag putt to set up an easy tap-in for the 1-up win.

Now, Piot will regroup and prepare for The Masters. The prestigious tournament will take place April 7-10 at August National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia.
