Michigan State junior cornerback Justin Layne took to Twitter to announce his decision to forgo his senior season and enter the 2019 NFL Draft on Friday night.

Layne, who moved from wide receiver to defense midway into his freshman season, has proved to be an integral part of the Spartans secondary the last few years. Layne was named to the All-Big Ten second team after tying for the conference lead in passes defended (16) and pass breakups (15) this season; he also had 72 tackles and an interception for the nation’s 14th-best defense.

It is not yet clear whether Layne intends to suit up for the Spartans in the Redbox Bowl against Oregon on Dec. 31.
