Michigan State’s 2021 recruiting class has just two commitments right now, but it’s still ridiculously talented.

On Tuesday, the Spartans received a verbal pledge from 5-star shooting guard Max Christie, a native of Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The 6-foot-6 star is listed as the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2021 class, and is the best shooting guard of the cycle.

Christie made his announcement via FOX Sports:

Christie is the second player in the 2021 recruiting class to verbally commit to Michigan State. He joins 4-star shooting guard Pierre Brooks, who is ranked as the No. 68 player in the cycle, per 247Sports.

Brian Snow of 247Sports says of Christie:

Right now is at his best as a shooter, where his height and long arms allow him to shoot over nearly every defender. But if a bigger player is on him, he is also athletic enough and good enough with the dribble to go past them. A highly skilled prospect who can play anywhere on the perimeter. Hard worker who shows tremendous IQ on the court.

Christie held offers from 17 programs. He picked Michigan State over Duke, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Villanova, Virginia and others.

Michigan State now has two 5-star prospects in future recruiting classes. Last week, the Spartans received a pledge from Emoni Bates, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2022 class.

Michigan State’s 2021 class ranks seventh in the B1G and 33rd nationally.
