Michigan State lands commitment from in-state ATH, 4-star prospect for class of 2022
Michigan State is off to a 4-0 start under head coach Mel Tucker, and that start is helping to pay dividends on the recruiting trail.
Tucker has especially done a good job within the state of Michigan for the 2022 cycle. He picked up another big-time in-state prospect Wednesday evening.
The player is Dillon Tatum, a 4-star recruit out of West Bloomfield. He chose the Spartans over Michigan, Iowa, and Tennessee via a live commitment on CBS Sports HQ.
“It’s a blessing,” said Tatum during his announcement special. “We’re going to go win games, go win a B1G Championship.”
Tatum is a top-300 prospect, coming in at No. 265 nationally on the industry-generated composite rankings. He is rated as the No. 13 ATH nationally and the No. 5 player out of Michigan for 2022.
Tatum is rated as an athlete but he indicated he will be suiting up for the Spartan defense in East Lansing:
“I’m going to play DB, nickel, and safety,” said Tatum.
His commitment now gives the Spartans 2 of the top 5 prospects and 4 of the top 10 out of Michigan for the cycle. Michigan State’s 2022 class is currently headlined by 4-star DL Alex VanSumeren out of Essexville, Michigan.
