Michigan State made an intriguing addition on the recruiting trail on Sunday.

The Spartans landed a commitment from 3-star receiver Syair Torrence. He chose Michigan State over several other Power 5 programs, including Syracuse, Boston College, Rutgers and Pitt.

Here’s his announcement:

Torrence is a big-time pickup for Michigan State. He’s the No. 658 overall player and the No. 88 wide receiver in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 5 player from New York.

He attends Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York. He’s listed at 5-foot-11, 195 pounds.

Torrence took his official visit to East Lansing earlier this month. He also visited Boston College, Syracuse and Rutgers before making his final decision.

Michigan State is still building momentum in the class of 2024. The Spartans are now up to 7 commits in this cycle. The group ranks No. 51 in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
